Text Luke 15:1-10 Reading 229

God sees each of us lost people - like the lost sheep and the lost coin - as worth going to a lot of trouble to rescue!

  1. Dear Friends,
I am sorry I haven't been blogging. Life got in the way and on Tuesday the computer would not let me - telling me some weird message so I gave up. Let's see if this will go through before I try to write any more thoughts...

  2. It worked! The sheep story comforts me so much. I imagine being carried back to the rest of God's followers after being lost - especially after my "questioning" period. I am so glad that the angels rejoice when a sinner has been "found". That love and loyalty means much to me.

  3. Do you all think this story is about unbelievers...."the lost" or does it mean anyone "off the track"? Pat O

PS I've noticed Kath that if you hit "preview" first then the comment box will go through.

  4. The story in SOLO says that the people of doubtful reputation were hanging around Jesus, listening intently. We don't know how or why they went to be with Jesus. Did Jesus go searching for them call for them to come? Or did the Holy Spirit bring them without anyone searching and finding them? With all the writings and admonitions for giving away everything and following Jesus, I surely feel like a "Christian" of doubtful reputation...so there is MUCH comfort in knowing that Jesus loves me still. I have a thankful and humble heart...

  5. I find the lost sheep especially comforting because I know I wander off - as little children do - I get distracted, lose track of what matters. It is so wonderful to know that God thinks we are worth the trouble to seek us out and carry us back, and that the angels celebrate each time! What loving patience.

  6. The lost sheep story is the one that speaks the loudest to me. Is it because a sheep is a living, breathing thing and so am I? Maybe I don't give the coin as much credence as a sheep. The times I have felt lost, prayer always jumped into my mind immediately. Maybe I didn't pray for the right things. Maybe my prayer was inadequate. But God seems to forget the times I forget Him and saves me from desolation.
