Look at the message I "happened" upon this morning!! http://www.stewardshipoflife.org/ Scroll down to the video. It is a great message on the joys of living a life of giving. It is interesting for me to contemplate where any action on my part comes into this - surely it has to - yet, I think a big message is that "what is, is enough". Lord, help me to follow you! Amen Again I think of the sermon about the thumbs! Can I let go?
This passage reminds me of Pastor's sermon last night. Politics is concerned with "getting" not "giving" most of the time. I like the word "fuss" when referring to so much of our lives outside of the church, (And maybe within, sometimes.) Help me, LOrd, to remember the giving without the "fussing."
And even poor Martha was chastised for fussing! But I think her fussing was due to her need wish to be kind and give food and hospitality to Jesus. So it's a conundrum. Isn't some fussing done for the cause of giving, not necessarily to get, or look better, or grow an inch in front of the mirror. I think we should fuss for things that are needed in the world: peace, food for the hungry, homes for the homeless, etc. Have mercy on me, Oh Lord, for often being an inappropriate fusser. Amen
I always associate service with humility. recently a professional server friend of mine showed me that a really good server ( because servants are NOT slaves they are paid to assist others)has a mind set much like the rest of us do when we are performing services that our God given talents allow us to do. Therefore I think we should serve as we can and do it "as unto the Lord". when we start to feel stressed we are doing too much and that opens the door for comparison......"hey how come she's not helping"!I've been a Martha and I've been a Mary.At that moment martha was more about....oh poor me. At this point in my life I would have put everything on simmer and gone to the Living Room to sit and visit with Jesus.
