Friday February 19, 2010 Walk With Me

Text: Matthew 11:28-30 Reading 208

Note: This is one of the readings that works well for beginners in this way of reading the Bible.

I like the direct talk from Jesus! I want to walk with Him!

  1. I like the passage; "Keep company with me and you'll learn to live freely and lightly." Doesn't this sound wonderful? I often allow my life to become cluttered and noisy with things that at the end of the day really don't matter. I was also drawn to the passage, "watch how I do it" Learning to live a life by following Jesus' example is not easy for me I often allow my own desires to get in the way!

  2. With the Olympics going on right now, I have an especially clear vision of "unforced rhythms" - especially some of the skaters - and a vision of less comfortable rhythms too. Each year as we hear the Emmaus story I wish I could have been there - and now here is the invitation to that kind of relationship. Oh yes! The thought of living freely and lightly is so enticing.

  3. I read this passage directly after a phone call from a young member of our family who has overwhelming problems. I felt her heavy burdens, but even more so felt the sadness that is radiating from her situation. This passage tells me that Jesus can come to her with the promise of rest and grace. I need to spread the message.

  4. I know that Jesus will bring comfort to your family mamber, Bev, and to all of us who are dealing with this burden or that conflict. I'm now praying that God will help me find a way to find resolution to a situation I'm now working through. I know He will give me the help I need and the words I need when I need them. Maybe when you go to God in prayer next, you could ask him to help me do HIs will. PS don't worry, I'm not sick.
