Monday Feb. 15, 2010 Live Before God

Text: Matthew 5:27 29, 33-37 Reading 204

It will be interesting to see how reading it like a letter will affect the impact of the words.

  1. No ah-ha moments with 27-29, although I pondered the expression "moral trash pile" in our lives. 33-37, however, gave me pause for thought. I see the need for adding "embellishing words" and "religious lace" to my personal improvement prayers.

  2. Here's what I got today: I pray daily for an expanding group of people and situations. I feel myself being pulled along to take another step and write or phone someone each day. By not doing that in the past, I have, in a sense, been saying something in my prayers that I don't mean!!

  3. My first reaction was the humor of the blinding of the right eye or living in a moral trash pile. I'm in the moral trash pile, even with the already blinded right eye!

But beyond that, this reading hits me between the eyeballs, agreeing to pray for people and then doing it only sort of... half-heartedly. I must continuously ask for forgiveness for my hypocrisy. Lord have mercy on me a hypocrit and sinner.
