We decided at the January meeting to join together for a Lenten addition to our lives. We will read daily entries from Eugene Peterson's devotional book "Solo" and then discuss them in this blog.
We will shortly have more information - particularly where we will start!!

I definitely want to be a Mary Circle Blogger and discuss selected readings from SOLO. Who would have thought it would be the Mary Circle that would bring me into the world of blogging! Thanks Arlene for setting it up and to my fellow Circlers for their interest in sharing in this way. Rosalyn

ReplyDeleteI'm wondering how many have the SOLO book so far. Arlene suggested, and now I'have looked at the book more carefully and agree with her that a good place to start is on day 204. The book is set up so that on every 7th day the reader is to just think about the previous 7 days. I'm wondering if people would like to start on Feb 15 (a couple days before Lent actually starts)with #204 and then the 7th day would be Sunday. I hope more of our Circle will join in the reading and online discussion. We have a little more than a week to get the book if we don't already have it.
ReplyDeleteRosalyn's plan for starting on the 15th sounds good to me. I have the book and have read some of the first passages. Found that I wanted to read my old King James, also. In the first lesson I loved the idea of God "strolling" in the garden, but needed to see how that jibed with KJ. It was great. Also have looked into Lectio Divina in a different source. Fascinating. I think this will be a help for my personal journey.
